Drawing from Drew

5-11-16

The surgeon just came out. We've been waiting for almost 5 hours, and got to hear the best, shortest sentence ever, "It's out!". Praise God!! He was able to remove the bulk of the tumor, and 90% of it came back as dead tissue. Which is wonderful news! He was able to "peel" it back as he had hoped and didn't have to take any organs or parts of organs. No major arteries were disturbed either. He described it like crab grass--we got the bulk of it out. There always would be some little seedlings left that we'll have to treat, but the majority is gone. The rest will be treated, as we had already planed, with the procedure where he'll receive the bone marrow transplant and also radiation. Any pieces the surgeon didn't removed were biopsied and showed to be dead cancer. He said it went as well as he could have expected. He did receive platelets and a blood transfusion during the operation, but otherwise did very well. So many prayers were answered! We are waiting now to go and see him in recovery. We are told over the weekend we could possibly go home, depending on how the next few days go.

All the encouraging words in text messages, posts, and phone calls were so strengthening today! We serve a powerful and gracious God, who showed His faithfulness today. The relief flooded over all of us as we were told the great news. Hard to put into words emotions I've experienced today, so thankful to hear the great news! Josh's parents couldn't stay away today, and suprised us by coming into the pre-op room to see Drew before he went in. It was great to have them, as well as my Dad here with us today. Molly is with my cousin Krista with a fun schedule of the library, painting her nails, and a movie night.

We are feeling so blessed right now!! THANK YOU all of your prayers and support!!!
